American Library Association announces 2013 winners

The American Library Association today announced the 2013 award winners in youth media.

Newbery Medal: “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate.

Caldecott Medal: “This Is Not My Hat” written and illustrated by Jon Klassen.

Coretta Scott King (Author) Book Award: “Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America” by Andrea Davis Pinkney, illustrated by Brian Pinkney.

Coretta¬†Scott¬†King (Illustrator) Book Award: “I, Too, Am American” illustrated by Bryan Collier.

Printz Award: “In Darkness” by Nick Lake.

This list comes just in time for Palm Desert Library’s grand re-opening, scheduled for January 31.
